According to Max's World War I draft card he had a dependent father and had been rejected by US Medical Reserve (Registration State: New York; Registration County: New York; Roll: 1765679; Draft Board: 096. Max Siegelstein's registration card).

According to Maxwell's service card he was appointed a 1st Lt MC on October 31, 1918 fr USA. He was assigned Off Tng Camp to Jan 5, 1919; Deb. Hosp # 5 to disch. Principal station was Cp. Greenleaf Ga; New York, New; Hoboken, NJ. He was not in any engagements. He was honorable discharged on Feb 26, 1919 (New York, Abstracts of World War I Military Service, 1917-1919 Maxwell James Siegelstein's WWI service record #242).

Another abstract of Maxwell's World War I service indicates that he was in the Med Dept. Ft Slocum, NY to disch. He did not serve overseas or participate in any engagements.
